The four star Parador de Gijon occupies hundred-year-old mill with a beautiful pond which is situated in the Isabel La Católica Park. The bar in the Parador de Gijon is particularly attractive as it overlooks a small island which has with many types of birds including black and white swans.
Gijon is a busy town which was originally based in the fishing port. Places worth visiting include the Church of San Juan Bautista, the Museum and the House of Jovellanos. Or you can make a day trip to Picos de Europa Mountains stopping off at the Cathedral of Oviedo and the sanctuary of Covadonga on the way. Other places to visit include the wildlife reserve of Muniellos, and the lakes of Enol and Ercina.
