The three star Parador de Ferrol was formerly a Galician manor house and overlooks the port and Ria of Ferrol in La Coruna. The marine theme is echoed in the decor of the parador with various nautical elements, maps and navigational instruments decorating the common rooms and spaces with a beautiful ancient boat lamp on the main staircase.
The parador has 27 twin, 6 double and 3 single rooms as well as one suite. They all have a private bathroom, telephone, satellite television, in room safe and a mini bar. The guest rooms are spacious and decorated in warm and earthy ochre shades. Some have balconies overlooking the port.
The restaurant offers exquisite Galician cuisine including are 'pulpo a la mugardesa' (octopus with potatoes), 'rape a la coruñesa' (Coruña style monkfish) and 'sopa ferrolana' (seafood soup). The local custom is for soup to be served at the end of the meal and food is usually served warm and only hot if specially requested. The traditional cake from Ferrol heads the dessert menu.
You can walk from the hotel Parador de El Ferrol to the old part of the city and Magdalena neighbourhood where you can visit the church of San Francisco. Other monuments of interest are the Cathedral of San Julian and San Felipe Castle. Outside Ferrol there is the church of Chanteiro, the Monasteries of Monfero and Caveiro, and the village of Pontedeume. The nearby beaches of Doninos, Cobas and Valdovino are ideal places for swimming and windsurfing and the Natural Park of Fragas do Eume offers hiking and mountain bike trails. Other sporting activities in the area include golf and rowing.

To reach the Parador, follow the sings to the Port, once passed the Port at the Plaza Vella take San Francisco Street until the end. Ferrol is 55 km from La Coruña, partly by motorway and the rest along the N-VI main road.
