The four star Parador de Carmona is an Arabic fortress which dates back to the fourteenth century overlooking the fertile plains of the River Corbones. It was built during the Moorish occupation and is on the site of an earlier fortress constructed by the Iberians and the Carthaginians. Carmona is one of Spain's National Monument Cities and in the past has been visited by many famous rulers including Julius Caesar and Muza the Arabic invader
The Parador de Carmona has a swimming pool offering spectacular views of the surrounding area, a Moorish courtyard, Mudejar fountain, Bermejo function room full of rugs and numerous antiques and wonderful halls with decorated ceiling and balconies overlooking the river below.
The 51 twin, 9 double and 3 single bedrooms are spacious, bright, and decorated in exquisite taste with Sevillian tiles, wood and leather furniture and colourful soft furnishings. They all have a private bathroom and come equipped with a telephone, television and mini bar.
The refectory is now used as a dining room and is regarded as one of the most beautiful of the Paradors. It specialises in seasonal and local dishes and some of the chef’s recommendations are "Cartuja de perdiz" which is partridge served with vegetables; "Espinacas" being a Carmona spicy spinach and "Pechuga de pollo a la parrilla" roast chicken with vegetables and french fried potatoes.
