The four star Parador de Almagro was originally a sixteenth century Franciscan Convent which was built by the Davila de la Cueva family in 1596. It is a beautiful building with fourteen inner courtyards and splendid traditional gardens with an outdoor swimming pool.
The parador located in the province of Ciudad Real and in the nearby surrounding area you can visit the Corral de Comedias (the old theatre), the Convent of Calatrava, the Palace of Fugger, the Old University, Plaza Mayor, and the Cathedral. In July the Almagro International Festival of Classical Drama is held in the town and the feasts of Virgen de las Nieves and San Bartolome both take place in August. The Tablas de Daimiel National Park is approximately 30km away. The elegant interior of the Parador de Almagro features some beautiful rich wood and latticework galleries and the original wine cellar has been converted into a very comfortable bar. The parador has forty four twin, two single and five double bedrooms as well as three suites which all offer peace and quiet and were once the monastic cells. All are air conditioned and come equipped with a direct dial telephone, cable/satellite television, mini bar and in room safe.
The restaurant serves traditional La Mancha cuisine with some dishes having an Arabic influence from the period when the region was under the control of the Moors from North Africa. Included among the specialities are "pisto manchego" (tomato based ratatouille), "migas" (fried breadcrumbs), cold dishes "mojete" and "tiznao" and "berenjenas" which are Almagro aubergines.
The Parador de Almagro is located in a great historical and artistic setting, in the very heart of La Manacha. It is a Franciscan convent which allows visitors to stay in the same cells that four centuries before used the monks. Its interior is elegant and peaceful, with 14 interior patios with galleries, corridors, frescos, tapestries and wooden railings.

The Parador de Almagro is 200 km away from Madrid. Following the Madrid-Cadiz road take the junction in Manzanares towards Bolaños-Almagro. It is also 125 km. away from Bailén and 130 km from Toledo following the N-40.
